Questions
BlockBusters and MineControl: common questions
Short answers about the Minecraft challenge, the mod, the costs and the people behind it.
Answers
What is BlockBusters?
BlockBusters is a Minecraft challenge mode where the streamer mines toward a block goal and viewers push that goal further away. Every bit, Landmark Coin, Kick or cent adds one block, and each payment sets off an effect in the streamer's world. The run ends when the streamer catches the goal.
What is MineControl?
MineControl is the free Minecraft mod behind BlockBusters. It runs on Minecraft Java Edition, listens for viewer payments and plays the matching effect in your world. Landmark Desktop installs it and keeps it updated.
How much does it cost?
The mod is free and setup is free, with no subscription. When a viewer's payment sets off an effect, Landmark keeps 20% and the streamer keeps 80%. A plain card tip that sets off nothing carries a 0% Landmark fee, though card processing from Stripe still applies. The full table is on the fees page.
What do I need to run it?
A Windows PC, Minecraft Java Edition, and a channel on Twitch, Kick, YouTube, TikTok or Rumble. The mod targets Minecraft Java 26.2 with the Fabric loader, and Landmark Desktop installs the loader and the mod for you.
Does it work on a multiplayer server?
No. The effects run in a single-player world on your own PC, using the game's built-in server. MineControl is a client mod and is not a plugin for multiplayer servers.
Can chat wreck my world?
Some effects do change the world. A Nuke blasts a crater and a Tsunami floods the area and lingers. You choose which effects stay on, you can pause any effect at any time, and you can change every price.
How do viewers pay?
Viewers can cheer Bits on Twitch, send Landmark Coins from your Landmark page, gift Kicks, gift subs, send Rumble Rants or send YouTube Super Chats. Bits depend on your Twitch status. Landmark Coins on your page work for any streamer.
How long does a run last?
As long as the goal takes. Runs go on for days of play, because viewers keep adding blocks while the streamer mines. The two live runs on this site show current numbers.
Can I test effects before chat pays?
Yes. The MineControl page in your dashboard has a test button for each effect. A test fire plays in your live game with no charge, never adds blocks and never counts toward a goal.
How do I get paid?
Landmark Coins credit your wallet the moment an effect fires, and Stripe pays out to your bank. Bits, Kicks, Super Chats and other platform money are paid to you by the platform, and Landmark bills its 20% of those afterwards.
Who is behind Landmark?
Landmark is an independent product run by George Hopkins in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It is in open alpha. The business address and contact details are on the contact page.
Does Landmark do more than BlockBusters?
Yes. The same account runs alerts, overlays, tips at 0%, Landmark Camera, text to speech, a viewer portal, quests and more. See everything Landmark offers.
